New CCIE: A Look at the New CCIE Exams and Labs

New CCIE Certification Akin to the CCNP, the CCIE is also going to change its certification offerings. The latest CCIE certifications would be including:

• CCIE Collaboration
• CCIE Data Center
• CCIE Enterprise Infrastructure
• CCIE Enterprise Wireless
• CCIE Security
• CCIE Service Provider

There will be few differences between the existing CCIE options and the options coming in 2020. The most notable is considered to be the absence of CCIE Routing and Switching. The CCIE Enterprise Infrastructure certification would replace this certification. CCIE Wireless will be replaced by CCIE Enterprise Wireless, while CCDE would be left unchanged, for now. CCIE Enterprise Infrastructure is still a two-step process: you have to clear a qualifying written exam which would be later followed by the lab exam. You would be beginning by taking the Cisco Enterprise Network Core Technologies 300-401 ENCOR. Interestingly, this core exam would be the same exam that would be required for CCNP Enterprise. This change would be able to give you the flexibility of either continues studying for your CCIE or finish up the CCNP concentration exam. In most cases, the lab exam would be a lot to take if you lack much experience, so it would make sense to go for the CCNP Enterprise first. The lab exam is still going to be an 8-hour exam, which would be meant for validating your skills. Therefore, it would always be best to have several years of real-world job experience before attempting the new CCIE. You wouldn’t wish to go into this unprepared. Additionally, the CCIE certification would also have an update for their recertification policy. When the changes take effect, the CCIE would be expiring every three years instead of every two years. If you’ve already cleared your written exam before the change has hit, you would still have time to take the lab exam. If you passed, you would be automatically receiving the new CCIE Enterprise Infrastructure certification. You would also be receiving the Cisco Certified Specialist – Enterprise Core certification.
